About The Event
The transition to electric vehicles (EVs) is vital for climate action and cleaner air. However, responsibly managing EV batteries is crucial, particularly recycling to conserve resources and minimize environmental impact. Black mass, a concentrated form of cathode material extracted from spent batteries, contains valuable metals like nickel, cobalt, and manganese. Efficiently recovering these metals requires accurate composition analysis. Traditional methods are challenging due to the varying composition of black mass from different battery chemistries (like LFP and NMC variations viz. 622, 811, 111, 333, and 532). The CNA Pentos, with its unique D-T PFTNA neutron generator, offers a solution by enabling direct bulk measurement of black mass, facilitating optimized metal recovery processes.
