About The Event
This webinar will cover the monitoring and analysis of organic carbon, particle size and elemental composition / contamination in soil using NIR, Laser diffraction and XRF techniques. Quantitative calibration models can be developed for rapid characterization of soil nutrients and other physical properties. NIR spectrometer can be taken in the field or in a controlled laboratory environment. In addition, coupling NIR technology with hyperspectral imagery and improved spatial statistical methodologies facilitates large area soil characterization assessments. Laser diffraction, covering vast dynamic range from 10nm to 3mm, is most suitable technique for particle size measurement in soil samples. It can be complemented with optical imaging to get additional information on the shape of the soil particles. XRF is a technique that measures elemental composition of soil samples, from which you can derive the soil chemistry, nutritional elements (Ca, Fe etc.) and the contaminants (Pb, As etc.).
