USA & Canada
September 1 & 2, 2026 | 9AM - 5:00PM ET | In Person
Norcross, Georgia
About The Event
Malvern Panalytical is pleased to offer this two day in-person training course at our facility in Norcross, Georgia. Day 1 is suitable for those only interested in BET analysis. Day 2 will expand to more complex analysis and is strictly optional. Who Should Attend: Technicians, analysts, lab managers, researchers, and anyone needing to operate and/or interpret and understand results generated from a gas adsorption analyzer should attend this course. The course will utilize the latest Gemini, TriStar, and ASAP model, but most course material is also applicable to users of previous models. The course is extremely beneficial to the entry-level operator and moderately experienced users wishing to expand their capability. Preparation: A course packet consisting of recorded lectures and e-learning modules must be completed prior to arrival. These will be distributed by the instructors electronically one week prior. The time spent in person with our instructors will be focused on practical elements. Prior hands-on experience with the instrument is helpful but not required to attend. Background: The Gemini, TriStar, and ASAP series provide high-quality surface area and porosity measurements on solid materials by using the gas adsorption technique. These analyzers are fully automated and capable of increasing the speed and efficiency of quality control analyses, with the accuracy, resolution, and data reduction to meet most research requirements. The speed and accuracy of these instruments make them an ideal technology for a wide variety of applications that include pharmaceuticals, catalysts, carbon, cosmetics, paints, pigments, geoscience, fuel cells, high-tech ceramics, battery, clean energy and much more. Curriculum: • The instrument components and how they operate • Sample preparation, including sample quantity, sample loading, SmartPrep operation, and degas parameters • Hands-on analyses, including: • BET analyses using both nitrogen and krypton, • Full adsorption & desorption isotherm collection using nitrogen, • An overview of physical adsorption theory, including surface area, mesopore and micropore characterization • Utilization of all software features and the programming of sample files to efficiently obtain accurate and reproducible data • The customization and editing of all available reports and graphs, including reference and specification reports, plot overlays, data exporting, and SPC reports • Data reduction, including BET, BJH, t-plot and DFT. and the use of MicroActive software. • Operator Maintenance with a member of our Service Department to discuss troubleshooting and user-maintenance. Complimentary breakfast snacks and lunch will be provided. The customer is responsible for all other costs of hotel, transportation, and additional meals outside of what is provided. Course registration will close one week prior to the course date or as soon as the class is full. This course has limited seating course, please don't wait to register.
