Imagine the time and resources saved if we could have a predictive indicator of how many times our powders could be re-used. Or how we could improve powder flowability and packing density to manage stress and strain. We may encounter issues whenever we deal with powders; therefore, understanding fundamental powder science characterization with quantifiable powder properties allows users to: - A better control of near-net shape production - Reduced material wastes with a consistent quality part control - Produce complex geometry impossible for conventional machining processes - Product consistency with standard quality uniformity for final products In this seminar organized by the National Taiwan University of Science and Technology (NTUST), the Metal Additive Manufacturing Consortium, the Cross-Disciplinary Integration Talent Cultivation Alliance for Smart Manufacturing Consortium, Taiwan Association for Coating and Thin Film Technology (TACT) and Malvern Panalytical, consortium members will share best practices and case studies to advance our manufacturing processes, from additive manufacturing and powder coating to metal injection molding. Topics will include test methodologies to improve sustainability in powder rejuvenation and re-use, and guidance from ASTM on approved test methodologies such as particle size and particle morphology for powder flowability and packing density. Attendees will also be exposed to methodologies like X-ray diffraction for quantifying phase changes and non-destructive elemental analysis using X-ray fluorescence for impurity checks.
