About The Event
This webinar showcases the capabilities of the ChemiSorb Auto and highlights the importance of chemisorption techniques which are widely utilized in catalyst characterization. First, the effect of experimental parameters on the temperature-programmed reduction (TPR) profile has been examined. For the Fe3O4 TPR profile, poor selection of testing parameters leads to a hydrogen depletion phenomenon, resulting in distorted profiles. Three different flow rates (F) of 10, 25, and 50 standard cubic centimeters per minute (sccm) were tested. The flow rate of 50 sccm yielded a complete TPR profile. The pulse chemisorption technique was utilized to quantify the fractional coverage of platinum-alumina support using H2 gas under atmospheric pressure conditions. Furthermore, the effect of catalyst activation behavior on the fractional coverage calculation was studied. For Pt/Al2O3, activation at a lower temperature underestimated the fractional coverage compared to activation at a higher temperature, but still below the calcination temperature. The desorption mechanism of zeolite CBV-5524 was studied using the temperature-programmed desorption (TPD) technique. The ZSM-5 exhibited two distinct desorption mechanisms, corresponding to weak and strong binding sites. Additionally, activation energies were determined based on the peak temperature.
